ELITE DANCE ACADEMY

About Us
Gia Waxman and Myrta George, bring years of experience as professional dancers, teachers and choreographers with regional, national and international dance studios and performing companies. Now, both have teamed up to share their expertise in the dance field with a new generation of dance students at the Elite Dance Academy.
At our dance studio, we do this by guiding your child's creative thinking as they learn about technique, choreography and music; by promoting teamwork and respect of others as they learn classroom etiquette, rehearse and perform as a group; by assisting in the development of their leadership skills through our Apprentice/TA program.
We offer a wide variety of classes for all agaes. From ballet to hip hop our talented teachers nurture students to be the best they can be as a person and as a dancer.
Honoring Myrta George:
A Legacy of Dance Excellence
Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Myrta began her dance training at 5 with Navas Dance Academy and later with Lottie Tisher. After high school, she was accepted into the School of American Ballet, where she performed with the Corps de Ballet at Radio City Music Hall. Her career spanned Puerto Rico, New York, and London, performing with prestigious ballet companies. Myrta owned and managed ballet schools in Puerto Rico and Phoenix, teaching at various studios in Mesa, Tempe, and Phoenix. She founded the Youth Ballet of Phoenix, sponsored by the City of Phoenix, and assisted Joseph Levinoff with ballet curriculum for the Dance Educators of America. After relocating to Houston, she joined the Houston Ballet Academy and became Ballet Mistress for the Clear Lake Metropolitan Ballet, now Bay Area Ballet of Houston, and co-founded Northwest Youth Ballet.
Though Myrta is no longer teaching at Elite Dance Academy, we are proud to recognize her lasting impact on the dance community.
